5 Best Restaurants in Ubud when you are carving Western or Mexican cuisine

Let me first start off by stating that Ubud has a large variety of different types of cuisines. Ranging from family-run Indonesian restaurants called Warungs, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Mexican, Italian, European and American cuisine. Indonesian food is very abundant and there are great dishes everyone should try when visiting Ubud like the many Warungs, Nasi Campur, and Babi Guling. If you scour the internet you will find many great lists of traditional Indonesian restaurant in Ubud like this one from Culture Trip.

But sometimes you might get a craving for a good Mexican or Western-type cuisine. Here is my list for 5 Best restaurants in Ubud when craving Western or Mexican restaurants in the Central part of Ubud worth trying that are budget conscious in no particular order.

Yes, you read that right, one the high end for alcohol of $105 USD is for Moet & Chandon Imperial. Expect to pay more for alcoholic drinks all across Bali compared to most other Southeast Asian countries.

Watercress restaurant is a hip and modern bistro with some of the best healthy fares. Expect salads, gluten-free zucchini noodles, juicy burgers, seafood pasta, Wagyu Steak, and other great dishes.

I was deeply surprised by how good the Mexican food was here. I have been to other Asian countries with little to no Mexican restaurants insight, so I wasn’t expecting much to be honest with you. This places does it right and did the job for my burrito craving. The best burrito by far in the Ubud area. Expect your standard Mexican-fare like tacos, quesadillas, nachos, fajitas, and burritos. The vibe of this restaurant is casual and laid back.

Warung D’Atas is well known for its barbecue ribs, and they are extremely delicious. Besides their bbq grilled meat expect some other more traditional Indonesian and some other Western fare. Noted by many to be one of the best western-style barbecue restaurants in Ubud when the cravings arise.

Full Circle is a modern cafe with excellent coffee, great aesthetics, and breakfast served all day. This restaurant has a concept of fresh handmade locally sourced produce. By far the best breakfast and the best coffee I had in Ubud. Besides breakfast, you can expect to see sushi bowls, burgers, fish & chips, charred prawns, roast chicken, and pan-seared fish on the menu among others.

I was surprised to see how many options for pizza there are in Ubud. I certainly did frequent many of them when I had the pizza cravings. Umah Pizza ended up being the best pizza that I tried in Ubud. Besides pizza, you will find pasta, burgers, lasagna, and even a couple of Indonesia dishes on the menu.
